Some time after my previous post a "Hint" popped up on Ancestry for Violet Clark. This proved to be a link to a tree with a Violet Clark who seemed too similar to Arthur's sister to be co-incidence, I messaged Brian Reed, its owner, yes Violet was his a relative who may have had a brother. He kindly gave me the e-mail address of Violet's daughter who I contacted.
Yes her Mum had had a brother Arthur George who married Jessie Dowling in 1941 but who was lost at see not long after. So mission accomplished !!n persistence pays off .
